https://shop.waltherarms.com/q-series-rds-backup-sights-rmr-footprint Walther finally decided to do something about the lack of the rear sight on Q5. Ian McCollum published a video that explains why the iron sights remain critically important on handguns with optical sights more than 4 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3ogBYjTQqk #guns #銃

@gat mine comes with one. Or does that mean have the iron and the optical sight at the same time? I hope this one you're talking about is one of the choices for the free one

@su Take a look at the video that I linked, but skip all the context and start at offset 6 min 20 sec. That is where Ian explains what Walther did wrong initially.

@valleyforge @gat

According to the comments at the time of this 4 year old video, he carried a Glock. Someone said that sounds like mario andretti driving a honda civic

@su That comment does sound stupid now, but it was posted before the U.S. market Civic Type R was introduced, so we can forgive it. Note that Ian actually explains on video why he was carrying G19 as a host of Suarez slide. In addition Ian's tastes are a little... different. I happen to know that he carried Remington Model 51 a few years before. You'd think an antique like that belonged in a museum.

@gat

I think it'd be amusing if he carried some silly French thing but he's ultimately more practical than that

Leyonhjelm, guess who's actively searching for a cz sp01, me! No luck yet. I did find one for $649 but it has the decocker so the search continues

@leyonhjelm @ThreeOneThreeChris @gat @valleyforge

I know, I just don't see being able to get one cheaper, do you think? Should I wait?

@su

Your options are pay what people are asking, you can wait, or you can order one in from somewhere if they can get it but probably still pay a premium. I ordered mine in at a local shop in 2018 or 2019 and they had it in a week. This year I don't know but you can always ask.

@ThreeOneThreeChris @gat @valleyforge

@leyonhjelm @ThreeOneThreeChris @gat @valleyforge
I didn't think of that, asking the shop if they can get one in...
In your opinion, if it has a decocker, is that a problem if it's not going to be carried?

@su

Even if you were carrying it wouldn't be a problem. I simply prefer a manual safety. Some people consider the decocker to be a better choice because it's ready and in double action mode for the first shot, and some prefer the safety because every shot is single action.

If it had been decocker-only it would not have been a dealbreaker for me.

@leyonhjelm @ThreeOneThreeChris @gat @su I definitely prefer the decocker but mostly because I'm used to it
