@gbrockell I wouldn’t do that if I was the Dems. All of the concessions McCarthy already made with the house rules, including cutting the congressional ethics office, is definitely not worth leading move through. No matter who gets the GOP speaker role, they will be beholden to Democrats because these GOP house reps can’t agree with each other on anything.

Some of the concessions diminishing the Speaker's power, giving rank-and-file more say, would benefit Democrats, though, giving them more opportunities to push amendments and such.
Some of the Republican criticism of the whole thing is how the concessions would benefit the other side of the aisle.
Careful about throwing out babies with bathwater.
