I think #SCOTUS is in a real quandary with the #mifepristone ban. Will they screw over big pharma who lines the GOP pockets with megatons of cash? Or will they screw over the right christian Nazionalists who want control over a woman's body?

#ClarenceThomas's current financial problems aren't helping.

Either way, more people will loathe the conservative court after their decision.

@noondlyt they will make a deal with big pharma. They can’t afford to lose the Nazi voters.

The cardinal sin amongst the republican party is touching someone's money. Above all else.

@amandacsb2
If they ban it and reverse fda approval that opens up every drug to that same fate. And there are many out there with people waiting in the wings to sue the drug companies. This includes many antivax right wing dipshits who want to sue Pfizer and Moderna. It will be interesting to see how they attempt to fix this. What kind of deal do you think?

@noondlyt

No, because mifepristone had specific legal issues with its approval, which is what this whole mess is about.

The FDA broke the law here, and the courts are grappling with what to do about it.

I don't know of any other drugs that are in the same situation, but only drugs approved in violation of the legal process would be similarly situated.

You are going to need to provide this information and why the courts held off this long. It has been in use for years. This type of reply might fly on twitter, but it doesn't here.

See the ruling I'll link below.

Courts couldn't act without the FDA's response, and the FDA simply didn't respond regardless of the law.

"After all, Plaintiffs’ petitions challenging the 2000 Approval date back to the year 2002, right?
"Simply put, FDA stonewalled judicial review — until now. Before Plaintiffs filed this case, FDA ignored their petitions for over sixteen years, even though the law requires an agency response within “180 days of receipt of the petition.”"

@amandacsb2

@volkris @amandacsb2 You have provided the filing of the plaintiffs. This does not represent reality until the court rules on it. This is being filed not by actual injured parties but by a right wing coalition that does not want abortion to occur. Their argument is that irreparable harm will be caused to our healthcare system because of side effects of the drug. When a civil suit is filed by actual recipients of the drug then I will take notice. I read your timeline. I know why you're here.
