Yes! I beat the drum that #Fediverse is not so much decentralized as it’s centralized around instances.
It’s federated, not decentralized.
From my understanding of #Bluesky it actually is more decentralized, giving power to users instead of instances.
I’m always critical of the engineering decisions #ActivityPub made, pretty much because it’s not what Bluesky seems to have settled on.
In short, and this is uncertain until we learn more about it, Bluesky might be what Fediverse should have been, IMO.

I disagree completely. Reddit is not a real time social media but more like a bulletin board.
@rolle @alastor8472 @volkris reddit, this is not, imo.
People have less incentive to speak amongst eachother and more incentive to just proclaim stuff into the void.
@FartsMusically @rolle @volkris although I was speaking of moderation.
Is any new post proclaiming stuff in the void here either 🤔 Speaking amongst each other is more a context <> audience based thing.
Not every Reddit place is the same, as neither is every Mastodon post. Plenty of nonsense either way.
@volkris yeah #Bluesky removes the high dependency #Mastodon has on instances, and their admins and moderators. Mastodon feels pretty much like a #Reddit or Internet forum to be honest.
The divide they made at Bluesky, to give ownership of your data back to you is conceptually just better. Others can filter out, but not control you. So there can’t be an instance dispute about moderation, or instances being nuked along with your online presence.
