No that's factually false. If you pull up the documents directly from the legislature, they were not punished for peaceful protests.

They were punished for breaking the rules that they themselves had already agreed to, and so the accountability that they also agreed to was triggered.

You can't just stand in the way of the democratic process without facing any consequences.

@volkris @DrALJONES Right, but to enforce these rules with these consequences while ignoring many other worse instances by people who didn't call you out for horrible things you are doing is not just enforcing the rules. It is targeted retaliation done in a way that can be denied in the way you did.

It's the same as on the old days of getting around "can't make it illegal to deny black people the vote" laws by enacting poll taxes and reading tests.

What are examples of many other worst instances of similar things?

@volkris @DrALJONES off the top of my head;:

1. Deliberately misgendering her at every turn. Hardly the civility and respect they demand from her.

2. Still supported Gov Giaforte after he choked slammed a journalist

3. In the TN incident they have an admitted child molester still serving

@foxydonuts

Those strike me as pretty different from this blatant violation of the rules of the chamber and interfering with the democratic process.

It's one thing to be a jerk. It's another to so flatly interfere with the institution one is a part of.
