If any of my followers is old enough to still be using Facebook, consider joining my brand-new FB group: ‘Final Cut Pro for iPad’
This is one of those thing I would like to check out and perhaps participate in but candidly I refuse to touch Facebook.
Is there a way to something similar (ie: a group) within the Fediverse or somewhere else?
This could be huge. I see a lot of orgs, companies and content creators making money for facebook when they get nothing back except a loss of privacy.
Maybe @Gargron or some of the #Mastodon and #Fediverse developers can start looking at this
Facebook is a service.
People don't get nothing back; they get the services that Facebook provides for them, the value that comes from the services.
You personally may not value Facebook's services, and that's fine, but it's silly to ignore that it does provide services that a whole lot of other people do value.
Right, but you go a step farther when you say the other orgs get nothing back.
Well, they definitely do, and understanding that is key to seeing why the situation is like it is, and it's key to working with them to bring them over here.
Knowing what they get out of the other system is key to competing against it for their efforts.

I personally choose not to except the services in exchange of abusive violations of privacy, wanton disregard of privacy and security of the users and blatant and abusive collection and monetization of the users that violates common courtesies let alone the common privacy rights that any person should have.
I’m not demanding “don’t use it!” to anyone. I don’t care but I don’t, won’t us it and know why.
My point to Alex is I would love to see this on this but not on Facebook
