Journalists who would never, ever consider working for Fox "News" continue to give their work -- free -- to Twitter.
They surely know that they're supporting a business controlled -- and manipulated in ugly ways -- by someone at least as malign as Rupert Murdoch. They're giving aid and comfort to someone who hates journalism and amplifies anti-democracy memes.
They could, instead, use the fediverse and control their own destinies.
How can they be helped to grasp this?
@dangillmor , I can't understand why anyone who isn't a sociopath is still using Twitter. I left last year despite being part of many communities there that were important to me. I could not continue to supply my daily-user stats to the ad revenue supporting a giant hate amplifier. I cringe when someone I like says they're still on Twitter because it would be inconvenient to leave. Yes, and it's also pretty inconvenient to have your society ripped apart by misinformation and propaganda. Sigh. 🙁
Well, have you asked some of them why they're using it?

@volkris @dangillmor , I have. They tend to agree that it's a problem, but not enough of one to prod them into leaving. I'm reminded of the classic Dead Kennedys album title "Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death".
