So now that the Supreme Court has rejected the "independent state legislature" theory, in order for a state to implement partisan electoral districts they will need their state supreme court to agree with their legislature.

[holds finger to ear] I'm being told that after North Carolina's supreme court became majority Republican, they did exactly this. 🙄

Well it varies state by state.

SCOTUS says merely that the legislature has to follow state law, whatever it may be for the particular state.
