There's no algorithm to push things in your face in the #fediverse, but there are folks/bots who (randomly) #boost your toots, and all of a sudden you get a(nother) wave of followers. 😅
I hope they know what they're getting into.

This sort of thing is why I get a bit pedantic about saying, yes there is an algorithm pushing things into our face around here, the chronological feed is an algorithm, even though it is a simple one.
And like all algorithms it can be abused.
@volkris I understand what you're saying, but I think most folks refer to THE "algorithm" , in the context of SNS, when referring the programmed behavior in social networks where the **users'** behavior (interaction) with particular content is a factor for pushing (similar) content in your stream, and mapping that behavior against other folks, to create a social profile that can be marketed/sold to other parties.
In computer science, "algorithm" of course is innocuous.
