#admins #Fediverse #mastodonadmin

I'm pondering the idea of standing up a server which limits accounts to only people in my geographical area. Has anyone done this yet? How is it going?

I used to Sysop in the 80s-90s and I knew all my users personally. I could definitely administer that user set again, conflicts and all.

-uptake will be slow, this is good
-potential to become info vector on a manageable scale/scope

Thinking a multi-facet server with a trad forum also, same accounts.

A thought I also just had... User accounts are local households, one-to-one database relation, with the admin user(s) of each household able to issue accounts to their housemates, extended family and friends, with the explication that they are responsible for the comportment of any sub-accounts they create.

I don't think I'm talking about a #Mastodon server anymore, actually, just a compatible one.

@marqle

With this userbase and system, I don't think I'd have to worry about how the account got to the server. I would have an address with a door to knock on if it came down to it.
