FINGER POINTING: McCarthy tries to shift blame for House chaos to Democrats https://occupydemocrats.com/2023/10/22/finger-pointing-mccarthy-tries-to-shift-blame-for-house-chaos-to-democrats/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon
But that's not factually what's happening.
That small minority has been thoroughly rebuked by the rest of the Republican party. Huge voting proportions have told them to go away.
Except that Democrats voted to back them, to set up the math such that they had an amplified voice.
If Democrats stopped actively voting in their favor, then the small MAGA minority would be laughed out of the room, mathematically irrelevant.
It's only with Democrat backing that they have any say at all in the chamber.
Yes, Democrats are mathematically to blame for that.
Well we know it's not true that McCarthy would not work with Democrats since he arranged the vote with the Democrats to pass the funding resolution.
And then the question of his ouster was explicitly triggered over his working with Democrats, so again, he absolutely did work with Democrats.
That's just right there in the public record.
At this point, Democrats have voted to shut down the House and are continuing to actively vote in ways that prevent the Republican mainstream from being able to get their candidates through, so the Republicans have no choice but to bow to the extremists.
This is 100% a situation caused by Democrats voting strategy.
@johnettesnuggs @volkris @realTuckFrumper
Volkris it's just playing the part of contrarian/shadow supporter for those same extreme Republicans trying to pass responsibility to Democrats.
It's a bit amusing to see him try to convince people here. It's a very weak argument and it's not gaining any traction. Still, when Republicans are on a sinking ship they are going to do desperate things.
This argument to blame Democrats reeks of desperation.
No, it's the exact opposite.
Democrats are supporting the extreme Republicans and I think we need to call them out on it.
It's supportive of the same extreme republicans to try to paper over the Democratic voting record, excusing it.
Instead, let's work against the extreme republicans by telling the Democrats to knock it off, and fix the problem they voted for.
At the moment, Democrats are voting in a way that puts the extreme republicans in the driver's seat. Let's tell them to stop. Let's call them out for what they're doing.
I mean, should I accuse @chiclet of being a shadow supporter for extreme Republicans for not wanting to call out the Democrats supporting their cause?
No, a lot of people here. Simply don't realize what is in the actual voting rolls.
So let's raise more awareness and put more pressure on all of our representatives to stop supporting the extreme Republicans.
But we can't do that if we don't care to look at the way our representatives are actually voting.
@chiclet @johnettesnuggs @realTuckFrumper
Yeah, it's interesting because he says he's "extremely liberal" in his bio. He sounds more like a maga.
People on Mastodon, in my experience, are better educated, and so they require logic and reasonability -- so I agree that he's unlikely to gain traction here.
@dswidow @johnettesnuggs @realTuckFrumper
Some people lie in their bios. They think it will disarm people and treat them as if they're making good faith arguments.
It works, up to a point. Until they actually start opening their mouth and spewing nonsense.

Trying to hype up Biden's documents investigation as if it equated to Trump's.

And here defending Citizens United.
Ends with someone saying, "I block fascists"
@chiclet @johnettesnuggs @realTuckFrumper
That doesn't sound "extremely liberal" to me. Maybe he's AI?
I think I'll just block him. Thanks for the help.😊
@dswidow @chiclet @realTuckFrumper I muted him early on. I don’t have time for his kind of nonsense.
@johnettesnuggs @chiclet @realTuckFrumper
It might have been interesting if we could have had a logical argument. But he just kept repeating the same thing over and over. Blocked!
@dswidow @chiclet @realTuckFrumper I don’t think people who defend the Trumpers are logical. Anyone still supporting the Republicans or who is still part of the party at this point is deranged, IMO.
@johnettesnuggs @chiclet @realTuckFrumper
My thoughts exactly.
@volkris @realTuckFrumper But If the Republikkkans were voting as a block in unison like the Dems, they would have a majority. They need to get themselves together and shut the rabid crazy side down. The Dems just voted to get rid of Qevin because he would not work with them at all. As long as the MAGAts keep trying to put people like Gym who has no interest in working with the other side in as Speaker, the Dems aren’t going to vote in their favor. I wouldn’t either.
