Big Journalism has, at long last, started explaining what will happen if Trump and the Republicans take full control of the federal government. The WashPost, today: washingtonpost.com/politics/20

But journalists have to take it another major step further. They have to become activists for democracy (and, by extension, freedom of speech including the press), not simply taking note of what's happening.

They've made it clear that they won't do this. That will make them complicit in what happens.

@dangillmor I mean, journalist have already become activists, and readers have noticed, and that's why we've lost so much faith in journalists.

They can keep going down that road, but with increasingly poor returns as they turn off more and more of their listeners who aren't interested in being preached to.
