I've got a radical dating app idea, but I feel like it's so good that I don't want anybody to steal it
At the same time...I probably won't make it so what the heck lol
1. You can only talk to one person at a time, and cannot switch to talking to a different person until the conversation has lasted for three days, or one person hasn't responded within 24 hours, at which point a "ghost" button will appear in the thread, and you have the option to mark the conversation as ghosted and move onto another conversation. When you decide to end a conversation, you can provide feedback about what went wrong that is only seen by the other person.
2. Rather than SBMM like other platforms, the app would use #AI to analyze conversations on the app. The longer a conversation lasts between two people, it will create a stronger association between the participants and others who use similar language and say similar things. This would hopefully lead to better matches.
4. The ratio of men to women or vice versa can never exceed 2:1 or 3:1 or something like that. This can avoid the problem where men sign up for a dating app, but don't get any matches because the men far outnumber the women.
@realcaseyrollins I'd worry that those rules would basically penalize folks who are too busy in life to be constantly on dating apps, which might be exactly the sorts of people you'd want to bring to your app.
I've thought about such things in the past, and I've forgotten my conclusions, but I did think it would be useful to show something like the number of people a person has attempted to contact.
If I know I'm one in three that the person tried to contact in the last month, I'm going to give that much more attention than knowing I'm one in five hundred.
Plus, this would disincentive blanket harassment.
I would always leave it up to the user, though.
@volkris Hmm. That's a good point TBF. But also, nobody wants to match with someone and not hear back for three days, right? And women texting multiple people at once incentivizes them ghosting men, and vice versa, which is what rule 1 is intended to reverse
@realcaseyrollins nobody wants to not hear back for three days, but I'd rather that than be limited to only those who happen to be on their phones right as I message them.
Yes, I want it now, but also, for a quality match I'm willing to have patience, AND on the other hand, I would want a partner to have that patience as well.
So yeah, like I said, provide an indicator about how many people a person has messaged.
If I can see that someone has messaged a ton of people one night, then chances are higher that they'll ghost if I bother responding.
