@benroyce keep in mind that one of the major features of a distributed network like this, in fact one of the features that distinguish it from those other platforms, is that nobody has authority over it, not even Gargron.
If Gargron could address your concern on his own, well, that defeats the whole purpose.
But no, the drama over meta is overblown.
@volkris absolutely. Gargron is not a king, this is decentralized no one is in charge. But mastodon is the largest ecosystem so there is weight
And I disagree that the threads foray is overblown. Currently yes all of the fediverse is nothing more than a pebble in their shoe and their threads effort is a cute distraction
But if decentralized ever seriously challenges the centralized big guys, you will see serious firepower brought to bear on the fediverse, they will not simply roll over and die
