I'm well aware of the reputation of Dred Scott, and that makes it even more curious how you could compare anything from the Roberts Court to that famous decision.

The Dred Scott decision holding that black people whether enslaved or free were not citizens was widely considered the worst decision ever issued by the court. It precipitated in part the civil war.
Later, Chief Justice Hughes called it the great “self-inflicted wound” upon the court.
