Trump pressures candidates for #Senate #GOP leader to fill his Cabinet right away

US Senate has not allowed presidents to make recess appts since a 2014 #SCOTUS ruling limited the president’s power to do so.

He's not even been sworn in, so he's not even POTUS yet, but - true to form - Trump wants to break that rule. Big time.

In NLRB v Canning the SCOTUS didn't limit the president's power to make recess appointments but rather it pointed out that Obama had made recess appointments without a recess.

Big difference.

Trump isn't wanting to break a rule here. Exactly the opposite: he's talking about applying the rule correctly.
