I always found it odd that someone would think it's a good idea to *store* very sensitive personal data (such as one's passwords) in the cloud.

Sure backing up, sharing and syncing this data is an important usability/convenience/safety feature but this has solutions that do not require the *source of truth* of this data to reside in the cloud (in the same way how wanting to access your home network/IoT devices does not mean every last toaster in your household should be phoning home regularly to a server… but I digress)

@flaki Well it's all about balancing the value of each solution against costs, particularly the costs of effort and time.

Each person will have a different personal, subjective preference for where they'll put that balance, and for a whole lot of people the cloud option is simply good enough compared to the costs of other options, particularly learning curves.
