@Yehuda When Canada used the Emergency Powers act it had to be specific, time limited, judicial oversight at every step and had an automatic parliamentary review after. Honestly it might be a little bit worse yes, the US believes in checks and balances, but a whole lot of people balancing the power, checking the power, are all for it.
The system is still there. The problem is we elected people who like this.
