Which analogy best describes Canadian PM Carney's meeting with the U.S. president today?

@david_megginson An embarrassing failure of nerve, apparently endemic to all world leaders, that allows Donald to continue imagining that he isn't the worst human of all time.

@Gustodon I don't think the U.S. president is even proficient at being the worst human.

Limiting the field to the current century, he fortunately isn't yet in the same league as criminal leaders like Benjamin Netanyahu (Gaza genocide), Xi Jinping (Uyghur ethnic cleansing), or Vladimir Putin (Ukraine invasion).

TBF, though, he has continued to help pay for the Gaza genocide, as did President Biden before him. 😢

@david_megginson He's the worst by far. All of those other guys are more proficient at being evil but every one of them would spell 'accomplishments' correctly. Donald is darkly evil but he is also a clumsy bully, embarrassing to behold. While others may be capable of greater harm, no one has the ball-of-eels brain that Donald has, coupled to an enormously powerful position. No one is worse.

(Also Joe Biden is light years from Donald in every category.)

Well, not light years.

Like presidents before him, both Republican and Democrat, President Biden understood that he could get away with whatever he wanted overseas (including funding the murder of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians and vetoing in the UNSC any efforts to stop it). White liberals and moderate conservatives would give him a free pass long as things stayed pleasant and stable for them in the U.S. (and to a lesser extent, in other global north countries).

President Trump's "mistake," so to speak, has been to to let those white liberals and moderate conservatives at home experience a tiny bit of the fear and violence that the Global South (and many BIPOC people in the U.S.) have always faced. He broke the unwritten pact not to sh*t in his own nest.

This sounds like a reach. The simpler explanation is that Biden simply lacked the executive energy to act, while Trump with the understanding of a 5-year-old, and the energy of one, is just poking buttons kind of at random.

There's no need to assume either understood anything about a larger pact or about the larger world.
