In the last few months, I've met two Americans in Berlin with whom I discussed politics, given what's happening in the US. Both in the context of a social project.

One is a university student and the other is a freelancer. Each is part of a minority group: one is LGBT, and the other is a black woman.

I was surprised that neither seemed interested in discussing the state of American democracy. When I asked one of them who was going to visit the US if they used social media, I was told only Instagram. They are only on it to keep in touch with people and have a very *neutral* political position. Of course I respectfully didn't continue the conversation on this topic.

Have you experienced similar behavior? What are Americans going abroad thinking about the political scene in the US?

Voters in the US aren't interested in electing a reasonable, responsible government, so what's there to say?

It's like a bad sitcom. There's just not much to say about it.
