vs -- web apps like you to use imap because it means they get to do more stuff, folders, etc, assuming you keep your folder and filter info on the server. But for folks who filter, sort, and interact with many email addresses from a single computer, what does IMap actually offer?

@worldsendless
Reading POP3 mail from phone and computer was a pita. Some mails ended up only on my phone, others were only on my mail client. Third ones ended into webmail. Free IMAP was a main selling point for Gmail.

@heikkiket In years of use I haven't had the problem with stuff making it to incorrect devices, but I always tell my pop clients to leave a copy on the server. I don't attempt to synchronize any "read" content, either. Did I dodge a bullet?

@worldsendless
Indeed you did!

But I'm interested to hear how do you remember what mails have you read already?
