The main benefit of doing this is we can get a feel for the type of person they are and the type of instance they might like, the other benefit is we can choose instances that are not Cloudflare, so we can actually federate with them lol.
Its actually not a bad idea.
The person creating the account should put something in the bio so the friend reads it and can infer easily who they are.

Didn't Facebook get their start by people creating accounts for there friends?
Maybe people on Fedi are too ethical to do that but that's what we need to do.
Everyone who produces 7 accounts for ⁷ friends and family gets $100. Then $20 for each person that is actually onboarded as a result.
