France's data protection authority has given Google and Facebook three months to make it as easy to refuse cookies as it is to accept them. Great work from the the CNIL in chasing down "dark patterns."

Then it needs to start to hit the profits of the users of these platforms or at least the reputational damage.

However it is the small and medium business who perhaps need to remove the code from their websites too.
