Hacker News is bashing on F/LOSS project names once again (this time Kdenlive is the victim, and Gimp is obv brought up)
I've seen this too often, so i tried a bit of the same treatment on Adobe products:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34222261
relevant part:
- Fireworks: you'll make bitmaps so good they'll blow up in colors?
- Dreamweaver: you can weave... dreams? I get the 90s web enthusiasm but come on
- Illustrator: there's bitmap illustration and vector illustration; Illustrator focuses on the latter, so good job on picking the wrong word in "vector illustration"
- InDesign: this name is a marketing dept playing it safe to a point that only a beige puddle of non-meaning remains
- GoLive: crappy subscription 1995 online service
- ColdFusion: lol
@rlafuente Adobe aren't even the worse ofender.
- Excell: What do you expect, a pay-rise or something?
- Fruity Loops: Sounds like chewing cornflakes.
- Azure: We really don't understand what this product is, so Marketing came up with a Perl script to spew out random words, and this one sounded okay.
Windows Vista, awful operating systems reach a new hight
Office 365 only works for 365 days of the year, so have the day off on Feb 29th every 4 years
MS powerpoint, - Where do I plug my kettle in
@zleap Oh, yes, PowerPoint. Always a mystery. @rlafuente
@rlafuente @acousticmirror
