Calling all antiques ninjas. My mom inherited this multi-leaf dining table that can be expanded to 14 feet in length (it's at least 125 years old, probably more). It's really been beat up over the years, and has several epoxy jobs to its legs and underside. Do those repairs render moot the old adage about wrecking the resale value by refinishing? Can I just not worry about that and give the topside a complete revarnishing to make it pretty again—without guilt?
Some repairs can make value go down, I would say that a good restorer can probably re-do a lot of this and remove the evidence of repair and increase the value of the table in question.
