Paste _between apps_ should not honor formatting by default. Of course there should be an option to 'paste with formatting'
How this #UX pattern became the default is baffling

I agree, the number of times I have done this in libreoffice for example and ended up with huge text deleted it and pasted without formatting, wasting my time further, I am also fed up of urls being turned in to clickable links, turn this OFF by default so we can paste with formatting and THEN it becomes a clickable link.
