Can we get some help?

We're not that familiar with Wikipedia or its processes, but we think our project is notable enough for inclusion.

What does "notability" mean exactly wikipedia is meant to be a user encyclopedia covering all manner of topics from international stuff to local clubs etc surely.

@zleap
For a company or organization Notability heavily relies on,
"significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject."

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedi

So we are basically looking for reputed mainstream media/news outlet's independent coverage about them.

For example Pixelfed has been covered by The Verge and Wired in English.

@Ohsin
Ah ok, that does make sense, but I can see how it can be a problem point.

@zleap It is an important check or Wikipedia will swell with spammy irrelevant stuff and become unmanageable by volunteer editors.

@roguefoam @pixelfed

Thanks, will have a look, i have been reading up on publishing science papers, interesting processes and how people gain reputation through citations and publications.

@zleap Originally, yea, but they’ve gotten snobbish over the years. For instance, they gleefully delete entries about notable webcomics.
