Seems more plausable, it jumped species esp given research in to other virus transmission from animals such as H5N1, and I guess BSD (mad cow desease) that Covid jump species.
Humans are encroaching on the animal kingdom and are being exposed to new dangers in doing so, I guess it is similar to what happened in South America where the Spanish invaded and took western deseases with them and either infected indirectly or did so by raping members of the tribes, causing infections their immune system was unable to handle.
As glaciers melt, are we also in danger that some virus that has remained doment in the ice will wake up (not quite the right word) and cause problems.?
