Watching YouTube videos and hooting and hollering when the Linear Congruential Generator comes on screen

Right now they're explaining that there are exactly 2.1 billion unique games of Diablo and no more

I kinda don't have an opinion about which random number generator is the best one and I think this maybe makes me a bad computer science person. I think recently I latched on to xoroshiro as my go-to for reasons that are maybe not super well motivated. Or rather I'm like "yeah, this is good, cool name, simple implementation, true constant time operations, can be done in gates" but idk if I've evaluated the other options especially. Stanning hard for the first prng I ever cared about. Hipster CS

@mcc

Do computers generate true random numbers, when they need to be told how to come up with a random number.

If you set the range 1 - 10 and put 10 ping pong balls numbered 1 to 10 in a bag and pick one out, then that to me is randomness, I guess the probability plays in as there is a 1:10 chance of a particular number being taken out.

@zleap when I say rng I mean prng, this is not an academic context and there's a character limit
