I think a lot of this is mindset, in the UK shops can give food that is not sold to homeless shelters, food banks and other places, this saves perfectly edible food from being put in skips then to say landfil.

People need to want to change, if people cook too much food, l they need to cook smaller portion sizes, or prepare large amounts, and freeze for a meal on a later date (it does depend on the food).
