'Time to end' care worker recruitment from abroad, says home secretary as she pledges lower-skilled visa crackdown

bbc.co.uk/news/live/cx2jnr1mkv

So once again, the UK government class 'care work' as low skilled, let's try and breakdown some of what is involved in care work

Manual Handling
Manual Handling of PEOPLE
Use and administration of medication
Health and Safety
Safeguarding
Lone working
COSHH (understanding of chemicals needed if you have to help clean a client's home for example)
Data protection
First aid
understanding of medical conditions:
mental health, dementia, diabetes, MND, etc
Communication skills
Reporting skills and accurate recording of information
Food hygiene
Food Allergies
Equality and diversity
Knowledge of the law and legal frameworks that the job requires.

To list a few,

Now tell me that care work is low skilled, this to me is insulting, having seen what care workers do and what people who care for sick relatives need to do.

I agree that we should train and retain our workforce for this, BUT to do that, STOP BRANDING IT LOW SKILLED. That may attract people to the workforce.
