Bluesky is melting down and Mastodon will not (I believe) benefit from it, and one reason why is that the one single technical advantage Bluesky has over Mastodon— the ability to migrate instances without consequence— turns out to be an absolute showstopper.

Yeah good point, things have to be sustainable for people, saying that I am switching instance as on this one I keep getting error 500 when trying to post (it works after a few attempts) but I also tried to set up an account for my local LUG and the e-mail confirmation failed.
If the fediverse wants to attract more mainstream users, then it HAS to be reliable and simply work.
