you probably learned this in school, but if there is something time consuming to read, and it feels a bit overwhelming, but you have the time, read as much as you can while still comprehending the material (note-taking and asking yourself questions about the material as you go helps with gauging that), and make note of how much you read and over what time period. try to read as much as that the next day: if you go over, that's good, as long as you're still understanding and remembering what you read, but just hitting the target is the goal. keep going day by day and you'll get to the end before you know it
