My son now has his first car. He worked hard over the summer and a couple that he mows for bought him a car. They just happened to run across it for cheap and signed the title over to us. It's a 2001 Neon. But it's not just any Neon, it's a Neon ACR. I used to race with it in Gran Turismo all the time. gran-turismo.fandom.com/wiki/D

@cigarBGuitarEfx I would certainly have mixed emotions about that :)

@Absinthe Yeah, I already want to buy it off of him. He doesn't even have a permit yet, so I'm the only one driving it for now. It is incredibly fun to drive.

@cigarBGuitarEfx I would be concerned with having that much power. How about safety features?

@Absinthe I describe it as "Kinda Quick" it's not super fast. 0-60 in about 7.5 and a 16 second 1/4 mile. If it was one of my other kids I would be concerned, but he's the responsible one. You also don't want a car that's too slow. I used to drive an Aspire (also called the Festiva in places) and it was so slow that I was genuinely concerned about getting rear ended when pulling into traffic.

@Absinthe You might be thinking of the 250 HP SRT-4. This isn't that kind of beast. The racing components of this one have to do with the suspension. It has a higher output motor, but it's only 150 HP.

@cigarBGuitarEfx Oh, okay. I was thinking you were describing a street racer.

@Absinthe Nah, it's really meant to be a road car that you can use in official SCCA road races. When it was made, you could order a Neon ACR from Dodge and race it the day after you got it with no mods. These are the types of races where turning G's and having the skills to handle them are more important than going fast in a straight line. Just like in the video game, you can enter it into races with a similar HP class and do ok if you know what you're doing. It's an interesting hobby.
