cut a trail / cut a path = 开路
1 To forge or create a pathway or trail, as between people, plant life, across land, etc
e.g. Throughout my life as a software developer, I’ve been on many different journeys. I’ve taken some right paths, some wrong paths, and some paths that I’m still not sure about. Along the way, I haven’t had much help or guidance. I’ve never felt like there was someone who had cut a trail for me that I could follow.
2. To leave a place. Primarily heard in US, South Africa.
e.g. It's about time to be heading home; what do you say we cut a path on out of here?
