No matter how awful Musk makes Twitter, it seems clear that Big Journalism will continue to support the site.

No matter how much contempt Musk demonstrates for news media, it seems clear that Big Journalism will continue to support the site.

No matter how he mocks his pretense of believing in free speech, it seems clear that Big Journalism will continue to support the site.

This makes me sad for a craft I love, and for people for whom (in most cases) I otherwise have abiding respect.

I am NOT saying journalism should leave Twitter this minute (though that would be gratifying).

I am saying news orgs and journalists should announce their intention to do so, and move expeditiously to places like this.

@dangillmor honestly, if content creators would even just cross post! Then those of us sharing could vote with our feet. But when they post on :twitter: exclusively, that’s when we’re all truly chained to going back again and again, if only to scrape for screenshots, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. “Well this is where Everybody is!” No shit, why could that be? Again, not even asking for blue checks to take a blind leap and give up :twitter: all at once, just. crosspost.
