"I want to suggest that in these last remaining days that [Jimmy Carter] has alive, there are some people who should apologize to him. Whether they do so publicly or privately that doesn’t matter so much. But the man is owed an apology, and I hope he gets it before he dies."

@AmberWavesofFlame You're absolutely right — an examplary Baptist who left the Southern Baptists when they took their rightward turn, bearing down on misogyny and homophobia. An uncle of mine did the same, though he was descended from generations of illustrious Southern Baptist ministers and his father was head of the Southern Baptist Convention in Arkansas. Like Jimmy Carter, he was an exemplary Christian man who did good and welcomed and affirmed everyone.
