most religions have some notion of the Great Sky Father

i mean, maybe we were all created from the Great Penis that Ejaculated From The Sky

i have no authority on this subject.

look, i'm NOT making fun of Christianity here

i mean, science claims The Big Bang

this is just about as outrageous

@thor It's interesting that many of the origin stories from the Bible also have pagan "versions" in other religions, especially the Great Flood

Follow

@realcaseyrollins @thor it's almost as if the entirety of Abrahamic religions is a bunch of pre-existing pagan myths loosely stitched together

@Amikke @thor I can understand that take if you come from it with a more distant perspective

@realcaseyrollins @Amikke @thor the stories in the Old Testament are similar to some ancient mythology because it comes from that, the Anunnaki, the particular show I was talking about on Tubi TV called “Anunnaki” explains it in detail.

@Vedrfolnir @realcaseyrollins @Amikke @thor The great flood is also a part of Hindu mythology. Hindu god Vishnu incarnated as a giant fish to save humanity from the great flood. He ordered a guy like Noah to build an arc and the fish rode the arc to safety.

@abhijith @thor @Vedrfolnir @Amikke Same story, different perspective. Proof that this event did happen. One of the accounts is correct and the others have bits and pieces, or misinterpreted what they saw

@realcaseyrollins @abhijith @thor @Vedrfolnir the certainty you have in your version being right despite having evidence of hundreds of millions of people thinking the same about theirs is amazing.

@realcaseyrollins @thor @Vedrfolnir @Amikke None of them are correct. All of them are beautiful mixtures of reality and fiction like all artworks of human beings. They saw a natural disaster and humans who could not do physical labor told stories to lure hard working men into paying them. They became priests and created religions.

@abhijith @thor @Vedrfolnir @Amikke That's the answer you give when you don't wanna hurt anybody's feelings 😂

@realcaseyrollins @thor @Vedrfolnir @Amikke I want to hurt the feelings of religious people 😂 Especially the priests.

@abhijith @Vedrfolnir @Amikke @realcaseyrollins i'm not religious. at all.

stop being a god damned dick. life isn't easy. help people instead of thinking you're so much better.

@Amikke @abhijith @realcaseyrollins @thor my grandparents and parents never went to church but they were/are religious(Baptist, and no, I am not baptized), i went a handful of times with friends but haven’t been to one in 28 years for several reasons.

Do I believe in God?
- I like to think there is a higher power.

What is that?
- I don’t know, I guess I will find out when I die.

…But then they say if you wait until then you won’t get into heaven if you don’t fully believe/go to church/confess your sins….
- If there is a God and heaven and is all knowing and seeing, then God already knows everyone’s sins and knows if they are sorry for it or not, I don’t need to go to a building and confess to a preacher or priest or in front of other people, I can talk to God directly anywhere I am.

- I look at all ancient texts from a historical perspective.
When you look at all of them you can see the similarities and then the correlations with real historical events.
Each culture thinks their religion is right and some think the other is wrong.

@Amikke @realcaseyrollins @thor It is no surprise. It is no surprise. People of the lands from which these pagan and Abrahamic religions originated once spoke the same language and shared a common culture. They took their stories with them wherever they went. With time the stories changed a bit and new ones were made up.
