Mastodon just keeps getting better! Full text search is here!
Well, almost here...
Mastodon core engineer @renchap has just announced that version 4.2.0 beta3 has just been released and will be rolled out to some instances over the next few days. (https://oisaur.com/@renchap/110946188204729065)
This much requested capability has been in development for a long time and promises to transform Mastodon into a much more capable platform.

People generally do not understand the difficulty with updating production software platforms with millions of users, and the need for tireless testing of even the smallest changes which can result in unforeseen issues. One of the things that Mastodon has done very well is not to over promise, and to make certain that when something is released that it generally works. Quote Posting is a big change and we need to give them time to get it right.
@mastodonmigration @CarlG @andrew @renchap it's a bit easier when the feature is already supported in other fediverse servers though, including modified Mastodon.
