went down into an actual soviet submarine, need to post the pics i have of that
here is the submarine from the outside, it is the biggest submersible missile cruiser ever built

it was in active service until 1988, and decommissioned 1991
entering the submarine

this was a diesel submarine, but the P-5 "Pyatyorka" cruise missiles it carried could carry nuclear warheads up to 350 kilotons (over 23 hiroshimas
I've heard diesel electrics are way quieter than nuclear subs. A swedish one kept sneaking up on American aircraft carriers during training exercises.

@Hoss @whiteline makes sense, nuclear produce steam energy generator noises and electric engine noises, diesel-electrics only the latter when running with the diesel turned off.

On the other hand they can't be this stealthy 100% of the time so they have an advantage at sneaking up on targets they know are around but disadvantage on sneaking around overall. Unless the diesel is somehow quieter than the nuclear generators? I know the big ones can be pretty quiet.
