If you are not quoting YAML strings, you haven't used YAML enough and you have no idea about all that can go wrong.

Do quote YAML strings!

@galdor Syntax highlighting usually tells you the type, and you only need to pay attention around numbers or some bool values (yes/no).

Yaml is fine.

@jgillich @galdor especially the newer version where a lot of the bizarre gotchas were cut out. Not that many parsers support it lol

But besides that I often use YAML and recently had to quote "no" in the list of nordic countries. Funny stupid gotcha but easy to remember, beats quoting everything including identifiers in JSON.

Yes this is a huge PITA because you usually do not know what the parser uses: 1.1, 1.2, 1.2 without the annoying parts, 1.2 with extra magic because the developer tried to be smart (and failed)…
