@igelsQTs That's before the unification of Germany isn't it? I remember this based guy called the Kaiser who did something like that.

@AmpBenzScientist unification of germany never happened. Theres quite a few regions and countries left.

@igelsQTs Why does Germany treat Austria like it's not what caused a century of problems?

@AmpBenzScientist what? Today's austria barely has any connection to what their monarchs did. After it fell, they wanted to join germany. After ww2 this was blocked by the allies.
@AmpBenzScientist britian wanted to block even the east and west unification in the 90s. Everyone around germany wants us to be split into tiny pieces as much as possible

@igelsQTs I hear the divide is still visibly noticeable to this day. Its economy isn't doing well. It's quite sad to see.

@AmpBenzScientist thats related to economic reasons. You dont recover from communism within just 2 decades. Ask poland.

@igelsQTs I don't think they were called communists when they were still alive. Better dead than red.

Time for Germany to start projects. The Army seems too small to protect the country. Immigrants should serve in the military.

@AmpBenzScientist germany is doing pretty okay all things considered. Our biggest problems is politicians fueling a divide instead of collectivism. It's starting to mirror the absurdity of american politics in some ways.

@igelsQTs There's nothing wrong with a stronger Germany. There's the problem that politicians don't want to touch and that's the chemical weapons buried all across Germany. It's in the water supply and it includes the first Nerve Agents.

@AmpBenzScientist *rolls eyes* and here I thought you werent like most americans here

@igelsQTs No it's a real thing. Germany had to dispose of munitions from both wars. It's a time bomb. There are forests that one cannot enter all across Germany because they had higher levels of these contaminates. It's only going to get worse. It's for the posterity of...I mean it's a good idea to not have deformed kids from this.

@AmpBenzScientist can you link me a source? Ive never heard of this

@igelsQTs This is the least sensationalized source I could find.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Wa

The rest talk about casualties and those are the explosives being hit when apartments are being built over that area.

@AmpBenzScientist it's odd that this wiki page doesnt have a german version

@igelsQTs No one wants to acknowledge that it exists or poses a threat.

Something similar happened in the US about a decade ago when office workers found a hidden supply closet that got painted over decades before. The office workers found a box from the USSR and one worker could read Russian because they ordered a lockdown. They were live virus samples of Smallpox that got lost at the CDC.

@igelsQTs It doesn't take a German Chemist to find ways to treat the affected areas and deal with water pollution without distillation. The Arsenic compounds are going to have different properties than other compounds in the soil. The NA is scary but they can be thermally decomposed or a good oxidizer should rip them apart. I don't know the potentials of the molecules or exactly how they have been occurring.

Chlorine, electric Fluorination and production of highly reactive halogen salts should rip the molecules apart when they form strong bonds and are subsequently cleaved by one mechanism or another (intense UV radiation). Fluorine and Chlorine aren't as good with Nucleophilic Addition because they don't form good leaving groups. Iodine is much better for this. Flourine and Chlorine love to form bonds. A simple hydrocarbon and chlorine will react in sunlight to go boom.

Apart from that, activated charcoal will take a lot of it into the surface of the charcoal (This is why it's issued with NBC gear). Membrane filters are going to pose the problem of now what. The charcoal can be put into containers and loaded in furnaces where either heat alone or heat and a catalyst will decompose it.

@igelsQTs @AmpBenzScientist i know but it doesnt make them german, so i asked which ones you were thinking of particularly
@gav @AmpBenzScientist of course it makes them german. What made a bavarian "german" other than being pressured into a unity via war with france? German is an ethnicity.
@igelsQTs @AmpBenzScientist if speaking german is the only thing that makes someone german then its not even an ethnicity, it needs more
@gav @AmpBenzScientist not what I meant lol. I use the language as an easier way to define it within europe. Obviously I do not include americans or german speaking africans.
@gav @AmpBenzScientist if a german happens to have grandparents from poland, that shouldnt explude them either. The way I see it is pretty natural within europe itself.
@AmpBenzScientist @gav either way germany shouldve won ww1 thats prob my entire point tbh

@igelsQTs @gav The US and Russia opposed the Treaty of Versailles. No one would listen. A third world nation and a failing nation weren't going to be relevant in the future anyway.

@gav @AmpBenzScientist for real please tell me how youd define "german" looking at how the second reich was formed. Deutsch is an umbrella term for all Germans. Not "people of federal republic of germany".
@igelsQTs @AmpBenzScientist how they talk, what they want to eat, how they court, how they socialize, what they like to do, if they dont act german then they clearly arent. i couldnt really tell the difference with any great detail sense im not german.
the first id suspect might not be german despite speaking it would be switzerland but maybe my vague impression is wrong
@gav @AmpBenzScientist all of what you listed varies alot even within the modern german state. If we divide europe like this we would have 100 more countries.
@gav @AmpBenzScientist you cant honestly tell me that the german speaking minority in italy's South Tyrol is "italian"
@AmpBenzScientist @gav austrian and swiss arent their own thing. They are germans only divided by different political systems from the rest of "germany"/"germania"/whatever
@AmpBenzScientist @gav I live in Baden-Wuerttemberg and the south of it is basically like the swiss. In contrast to north germans who seem completely different to both.
@AmpBenzScientist @gav if you want to divide german speaking areas then this is the only one that would make sense to me: general dialect regions
image.png
@Vulcan @AmpBenzScientist @gav I wouldve preffered a union with austria. I dont identify with northgermans at all.
@igelsQTs @AmpBenzScientist @gav What if Austria annexes highland Germany? Preferable to the current split?
@doublecart @AmpBenzScientist @gav nobody is gonna annex anything. If Im being honest im just glad I can travel to every german speaking region without border controls thanks to the EU stuff. If this ever gets reversed im gonna go protest or burn down some politician's house.
@igelsQTs Russia’s current war would also make a push for unification like this look pretty bad. @AmpBenzScientist @gav
@awl @AmpBenzScientist @gav unifications by vote arent problematic, wars for unifications are.
@awl @AmpBenzScientist @gav sadly after ww2 and ally meddling these votes will never occur again.
@igelsQTs I think the powers that be that are keeping Germany from this won’t make that distinction. @AmpBenzScientist @gav
@awl @AmpBenzScientist @gav austria wouldve been split into a soviet part and a western part if they had not agreed to russia not to team up with west germany so they are cucked forever to be a nobody
@awl @AmpBenzScientist @gav but now they are even proud of this nonsense. It's all so tiring
@awl @AmpBenzScientist @gav unironically the reaon we cant have nice things nowadays. I hate every hitlertard with a passion
Show newer

@awl @igelsQTs @gav There were relations between the two royal families. I remember that somehow.

@igelsQTs @gav I hope many tools are made there. I love German tools and Swiss precision.

@igelsQTs @AmpBenzScientist depending on which you judge important and how much varience you allow yes you would, its just the catagory of things that makes ethnicity, theres some set of things that is germaness and if they dont have it theyre not german.
i thought the swiss were more distinct maybe because of theyre political system idk, are switz italians germans french severly different in a way switz german and german german arent?
@gav @AmpBenzScientist the swiss are just like the rest of southgermany: rich, posh and a little arrogant about it. Other than that all they really got is very good geography. Ive lived in switzerland for a while and they arent different people. They just said "fuck german identity" after ww2 because nazis are scary
@igelsQTs @AmpBenzScientist ok thank you ill keep it in mind, have you been to tyrol or met them?
@gav @AmpBenzScientist plenty of times. Me and my dad only ever go to the german speaking part of italy and the people there are super nice
@igelsQTs honestly the only part of Italy I could tolerate. Been to Campania, Sardinia, Firenze and Veneto @AmpBenzScientist @gav
