REMINDER: Steve Scalise’s life was saved by a Black lesbian Capitol cop who covered his body with her own while she was shot in the process. Then Scalise voted against the #EqualityAct. TWICE. That is all you need to know about him. #SteveScaliseIsTrash #NeverSteveScalise

Whoa, FIFTY YEARS? I think I need to do some breathing exercises now.
That was a really great tune, I thought. Maybe I should get an mp3 for nostalgia's sake. Did that recently with some Talking Heads I'd somehow managed to not have in my music collection.
@markwyner
That is excellent news! I'm glad to hear it. I know you already know to keep a close eye on it 'cause it's sneaky.
@jayarava
A close friend is from Birmingham and has dual citizenship. He lives here in Arizona ten months out of the year, going back each year for two month-long visits in England and Wales to visit with family and friends.
UK-related topics are a frequent focus of our talks, as he's taken it upon himself to explain and flesh out the news that makes it to me from your adopted country. (Does New Zealand ever tempt you to return?) Despite having never been to the UK, I feel an affinity towards it and have read a fair amount of its history. I have almost nothing at stake in what goes on where you are, yet somehow can't be unaffected and am a little horrified at what has gone on since, say, Thatcher.
We surely do live in interesting times.

Ah, bought my old house, I see. The first step is to always cross the threshold backwards when entering from outside. I'll gather some of my notes and pass them along to you.
Rishi #Sunak is an idiot. Most of the things he is promising to deliver are completely outside his control. There's no way he can deliver on these five #promises.
It would only be more ridiculous if he'd had them carved in stone.
Moreover his party have been in power for *12 years*. Does he think he's really fooling anyone pretending that it was like this when he got here?
They're just taking the piss now.
Migrating here, still have a paddle in the water at the hellsite.
Guilty pleasures: wicked snark (I'm not so good at dishing it anymore), silver Cuervo and driving fast.
I'm all about politics but enjoying the less toxic life here!

I've traveled about quite a bit here due to the job I had before retirement. Be glad to pass along any info you might be interested in! I'm in Prescott, which is in the high country (1.6 km elevation)-- we've snow on the ground as I type.

Hey, glad to meet you. I live in the Australia of the USA (Arizona), so I'll tag along with you for a while and see where this road goes!
I have been on Mastodon a little while and I like it here, so let’s make it official with an #introduction post
I am a 30-something gay man living in lutruwita/Tasmania, Australia. Married for 7 years, our lives are ruled by our two pugs, Oscar and Stanley. My day job is in #martech but never fear, I will basically never post about that 😅
I consume waaay too much #PopCulture particularly #ScienceFiction #fantasy #books, #movies and #tv. Also do a fair bit of #gaming on #PS5 and #Switch. Ask me about my #MarvelSnap addiction.
Also interested in #lgbtq, #sustainability, #veganism, #MentalHealth, #fitness, #running and an #AusPol tragic (I grew up in Canberra, so I think it was something in the water)
Trying to take myself less seriously 🤙

That's genius. Thank you.

Now I understand.

Ars Technica has an excellent article on this topic. As is usual, for Ars, the comments are also intelligent and worthwhile mostly.
@frank
You can always count on Mr. Munroe to strike at the heart of the matter. The one about getting the password with a lead pipe comes to mind every time I read a security-related post.
After lurking for awhile, it's time to step forward here and say hello. Hello!
I'm a journalist with ProPublica. I live in Detroit. I wrote a book about Flint's water crisis, and the deeper story of how we make and unmake our cities. I teach creative nonfiction in Alma College's MFA program in creative writing.
I'm always listening for tips, especially ones rooted in the rich stories of Michigan and the Midwest. Know something we should look into? I'm at anna.clark@propublica.org.
