Hello again new followers! On this platform I try to keep things "stress-free" for myself so I typically post about my hobbies and general boring stuff. In real life I'm a cloud engineer, kind of got there by accident. I like the usual traveling, cooking, movies, reading, etc but I have a good few more niche interests like amateur radio, iaido, writing, and so on. So yeah that's me!

I've been here a few years, so here are a few tips I think might be useful.
- Mastodon is its own thing: some parts might feel like Twitter, some parts won't. It's not intended as a replacement.
- You'll figure it out! Don't worry if it doesn't make much sense right now.
- There's no end-to-end encryption, so don't send sensitive info over Mastodon.
- It's run by volunteers around the world who manage the servers/instances in their own time and often at their own expense.
- Go and enjoy it!

@conor I'm still learning but enjoying the differences between 🐦 site and Mastodon.
What I like is the lack of algorithm. In the 🐦 site, any click on a post (US politics especially) stuffed up my home page and I got heaps of tweets from that global region for a while later.
Mastodon just seems more like a community. It's great.
