So you're part of the #fediverse now, and you can talk to people on mastodon.social, follow folks from scicomm.xyz, etc. It's not just limited to #Mastodon either, you can also follow https://pixelfed.org/ accounts (where people post pictures, like Instagram), lemmy.ml accounts (reddit-like), etc. Basically it's a lot of sites with different purposes, designs, goals, etc. that choose to be #open and ready to communicate with each other, instead of closing down everything like facebook or twitter.
