Any other patch clampers here from the bird site yet? Brain slice & in vivo patcher here, plus some silicon probe recordings with opto 💡 🧠
@audreydrotos haven't patched a cell since my time at the MBL (which was a looong time ago) so a quick question, has technology evolved such that you avoid manual suction to form the gigaseal? I always found that gross and therefore shifted away to recording using silicon probes 😆

I admit that I never really saw an issue with it (tiny volumes in the pipette and a filter in the line), but some people are now using automated pressure application. Much more reproducible.
