Supplies of OTC medicines and antigen tests have improved. One good thing is we have a very short, very responsive supply chain that seems to be adapting quickly👍🏻 This should make subsequent waves more tolerable for people with relatively mild symptoms.

The post-Chinese-New-Year surge is my main worry now, as well as the point the Chinese collective consciousness becomes aware that it's not a one-and-done but ongoing repeated illness they have been committed to suffering. There is very little awareness of that now.

@SexyCyborg
Even in the US, which effectively committed to that repeated suffering very early, people still don’t understand that that is what they’ve been committed to.

The human capacity to willfully not understand is remarkable.

@McPatrick @SexyCyborg here in the UK it's more like "Live with it like the Flu". As with older people and children being advised to have an annual flu shots / spray, they now also encourage older people or those with underlying health issues to have Covid booster shots. Definitely not over though, but of course the shift in how it is managed is giving deniers a boost "See, it was never so bad. I don't need a vaccine".

@moqume @McPatrick @SexyCyborg What struck me there is that anyone can get a flu jab in the UK. Updated Covid jabs? Not so much.

“Just treat it like flu (it’s not. And Also, we won’t treat it like flu).”

@McPatrick @moqume @SexyCyborg Of course it isn't. It's much more contagious. It causes much more long-term damage to infected individuals (which was to be expected the second we had the first full sequence and first documented in March 2020).

As we start seeing the fallout of all this over the next two decades, we will continue to be told that no-one could have known and that it's all hindsight now. Grmpf.

“Who could possibly have foreseen…?”

<points to long list…>

“And by the way, this means that we will be *requiring* [by one means or another] that healthy and healthier people work longer and harder hours to sustain the overhead of people who we crippled. And no, of course there won’t be protective gear, we can’t afford it. Nor adequate wages for the labor…”
