I ran across an odd image just a few ago, with the hashtag #TimeTravelAuthors and, primarily, it's odd because it's formulaic, and nowhere is listed "know your audience". Not everyone that reads such fare is hoping for identically styled material.
There is no recognition of the fact that, regarding physics, a book is a time travel device itself where you can begin at the end, skip to the beginning, and randomly access any point in the middle....which is how time travel operates, and time is NOT linear either.
And yet it forces story-line linearity when you start at the first page and read sequentially until arriving at the last page.
There are authors out there who have already utilized the physics of how a book works via those "choose an ending" type stories, however limited in use those might be, but it's a start.
Seriously, #TimeTravelAuthors --nobody has absolute control over which page any given reader has the power to begin at, so how about you index each time you've used the word "meanwhile" to refer to multiple concurrent events in your story's "timeline"; timelines exist to establish sequence of events and "meanwhile" indicates an event that is necessarily NOT subsequent to the previous event but is instead concurrent. Same condition exists when you use the term "previously".
Then consider the nuanced differences between "time" and "timing".
Now go write.
