A huge squall line (derecho) is currently sweeping across China

Dream dance surreal city stage, above
skylights, twinkle eyes of play romance,

Twirl akimbo in free fall, no walls, no floor —
air embraces. Smiling Moon face beams in stasis,
gleeful spirits dip and sway a’flight
this enchanted night.

Usually all of the birds stay out of the garden for a while after I rinse the bird bath but last year one or both of the catbird couple figured out that if they drank and bathed right after I left they got the freshest coolest water. The catbirds arrived from the south this week and they must be the same ones because they’re barely waiting for me to get indoors before they start to splash around.

So I share this not to seek sympathy, but to normalize the fact that we all go through hard stuff. My uncle passed away this past weekend. He lived a full life of 80+ years. He had been suffering from Alzheimers, which had taken many of his memories and abilities. But regardless, it's still hard to lose someone.
