Ignoring total net worth for a moment, America's billionaires combined saw an increase of their net worth of 1.5 trillion between March of 2020 and Nov 2022. They don't need to be making any more money, and taking any further increase from them would not stop the economy. Divide just their income up amongst the homeless (582k in the US in 2022) and you get 2.5 million per homeless person. That's sick.

I think I've shared the story before how, a few weeks after the 2016 election and a series of tornadoes ravaged the southern US, it dawned on me that a President (i.e. Trump) could actively withhold federal aid during a natural disaster. Hurricane Katrina showcased Bush's incompetence in 2005, but Trump was easily more dangerous. I realized that we had to be better prepared to fend for ourselves, and I started looking into prepping.
